Privacy Policy — ClearAnalyser

Last updated: 30 September 2026

ClearAnalyser is a browser extension that displays its own analytics layer on top of the DEGIRO webtrader (trader.degiro.nl), including return, contributions, dividends and transaction chains. These insights are generated from the portfolio of the logged-in user.

Data controller: Theo van Meijel (contact page) is the data controller for the processing of personal data described in this privacy policy.

Disclaimer: ClearAnalyser is an unofficial extension and is in no way affiliated with, approved by or sponsored by DEGIRO. The extension is intended solely for users aged 18 and over.

1. What data does ClearAnalyser process?

Portfolio data (stays local only) Your financial positions, transactions, cashflows and dividends are read via your own, already logged-in DEGIRO session. This data is stored exclusively locally on your device (via chrome.storage.local and IndexedDB). Your financial data never leaves your device, unless you choose to enable email alerts or cloud monitoring yourself (see below). It is also not included in the technical error reports or statistics described below.

Exception — Scenario alerts: the positions and scenarios you create in the Scenario alerts module (name, ISIN, quantity, average purchase price and your price levels) are stored in Chrome’s sync storage (chrome.storage.sync). If Chrome sync is turned on, Google syncs them through your own Google account to your other Chrome installations. ClearAnalyser itself does not receive this data. The alert log, your Gmail connection, your optional Twelve Data key and your cloud monitoring secret stay local to this device only.

Public product information (via justETF) For the automatic categorisation of ETF holdings (such as sector and region), the extension retrieves publicly available factsheet data per ISIN from justetf.com. This concerns general product information only and has no connection whatsoever to your personal portfolio or user data.

Price data (Scenario alerts) To show prices and monitor your scenarios, the extension requests the price per product from the price service DEGIRO itself uses (vwd, charting.vwdservices.com), from Yahoo Finance and Stooq, and — only if you enter an API key yourself — from Twelve Data. Only product information is sent (ISIN, ticker symbol or the product ID in the price feed), plus your own key for Twelve Data. Quantities, purchase prices, amounts or your DEGIRO account are never sent. As with any internet request, these services do see your IP address.

Technical diagnostic and usage statistics (Telemetry) To maintain the extension, track down programming errors (bugs) and gain insight into feature usage, ClearAnalyser sends limited, anonymised technical data to two secure, EU-hosted services. The legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in being able to offer a well-functioning and secure extension.

Identification and opt-out: Both services identify installations solely via a randomly generated, installation-bound ID (crypto.randomUUID()). This ID is not linked to your DEGIRO account, name, email address or IP address. Because this strictly anonymised data is essential to the technical functioning of the extension, there is no option to disable this diagnostic data.

Email alerts via Gmail (optional) If you choose to click “Connect Gmail” in the Scenario alerts module, the extension uses Google sign-in (chrome.identity) to request permission for exactly one Google scope: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.send (send email on your behalf). This permission is used solely to send the price alerts you have set up yourself (and a test email at your request) to the recipients you have specified. Such an email contains the position name, the current price, the price levels of your scenario, your return relative to your purchase price, the risk/reward ratio, your own advice text and — if you have linked an order to the scenario — the order details (quantity, order type and prices). The link in the email contains only a product ID and a random alert ID.

ClearAnalyser’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Cloud monitoring via Google Apps Script (optional) If you enable cloud monitoring, the extension sends your scenario positions (name, ISIN, ticker, quantity, average purchase price and your scenario settings, including price levels, advice text and order settings) together with a shared secret to a Google Apps Script that you install yourself in your own Google account. That script runs under your account; ClearAnalyser has no access to it. The script itself fetches prices from Yahoo Finance and DEGIRO’s price service from Google’s servers, and sends alerts through your own Gmail.

Payments (Premium) A Premium subscription is handled by ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com), with payment through Stripe. You enter your email address and payment details with ExtensionPay and Stripe, not in ClearAnalyser. The extension only receives from ExtensionPay whether your licence is active. Their own privacy policies apply to the processing by ExtensionPay and Stripe.

2. What ClearAnalyser explicitly does NOT do

To safeguard your privacy, ClearAnalyser applies the following strict principles:

3. Security, retention periods and permissions

4. Your privacy rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have various rights, such as the right of access and the right to erasure.

Because ClearAnalyser itself does not store any directly identifiable personal data (such as name or email address), we cannot readily identify you in our Sentry or PostHog systems. Would you still like to view or have your telemetry data deleted? Please get in touch and include the unique, locally generated installation ID from your browser.

You also always have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) if you believe we are not handling your data correctly.

5. Contact & changes

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time to reflect functional or legal changes. The most current version can always be found in our GitHub repository.
