ClearAnalyser vs Portfolio Performance for DEGIRO
ClearAnalyser and Portfolio Performance both keep your data on your own computer. The difference is in the work: Portfolio Performance works with any broker and any type of asset, but you import DEGIRO PDFs yourself and book splits by hand. ClearAnalyser works only with DEGIRO, but reads your data live from the webtrader with no import. If you want everything in one record, choose Portfolio Performance; if you only have DEGIRO and don't want to spend time on it, choose ClearAnalyser.

What they have in common
Portfolio Performance (PP) and ClearAnalyser are both an answer to the same concern: you want to analyse your investments without handing your full financial history to a cloud tracker. Both process your data on your own computer, and both calculate a correct return when you deposit along the way, instead of “ending value minus contributions”.
That’s largely where the similarity ends.

Where Portfolio Performance is better
Scope. PP can track your whole net worth: several brokers, savings accounts, crypto, and even your home if you want. ClearAnalyser only knows DEGIRO.
Time-weighted return. Besides the money-weighted return, PP also calculates a time-weighted return. That’s useful if you want to compare your own choices fairly with a fund or index. ClearAnalyser uses money-weighted return (MWRR) and CAGR.
Freedom. PP is open source and completely free, with a large community that maintains importers and extensions. You decide how to set up your records.
Where ClearAnalyser is better
No maintenance. In PP you import DEGIRO PDFs yourself. That usually goes well, but according to the developers you have to book splits by hand, and a PDF importer can break when DEGIRO changes the layout of its documents. ClearAnalyser reads what the webtrader shows, so there’s nothing to keep up.
Built for DEGIRO. ClearAnalyser knows how DEGIRO books deposits, currencies and dividends, and for investors in the Netherlands it has a compound interest simulator with Box 3. See the Dutch Box 3 tax on investing.
Features you won’t find in PP. A dividend forecast for the next 12 months, rebalancing with buy suggestions for your target allocation, your real exposure per company through your ETFs, and price alerts as soon as the price hits a level you’ve set.
Ready to go. Installing the DEGIRO Chrome extension and opening DEGIRO is enough. You don’t have to choose price sources, create accounts or configure anything.
Choose Portfolio Performance if …
- you invest with more than one broker, or want to track other assets;
- you need a time-weighted return;
- you enjoy building and maintaining your own complete records.
Choose ClearAnalyser if …
- all your investments are at DEGIRO;
- you don’t want to spend time importing and correcting;
- you want a dividend forecast, Box 3 or price alerts.
Using both
They don’t get in each other’s way. A common combination is PP for the annual overview of your whole net worth, and ClearAnalyser for day-to-day analysis in DEGIRO. ClearAnalyser needs no import, so it takes no extra work. The same combination works with a cloud tracker; see Parqet alternative.
Importing DEGIRO into Portfolio Performance
If you choose PP, importing goes like this:
- In your DEGIRO inbox, download the transactions overview (buys and sells) and the account statement (dividends, deposits and fees) as PDF.
- In Portfolio Performance, use the PDF import in the File menu and select both files.
- Check the bookings it found and book any splits by hand.
- Repeat this after every period in which you traded.
If the PDF import doesn’t work, you can also use a CSV. How to get one from DEGIRO is explained in exporting a DEGIRO CSV.
Conclusion
Portfolio Performance is the better choice if you want one set of records for your whole net worth and are willing to put time into it. ClearAnalyser is the better choice if you only invest through DEGIRO and want to see right away how you’re doing, with no import. See also the comparison of all seven DEGIRO trackers.
